چکیده

Logical architectures combine several logics into a more complex logical system. In this paper we study logical architectures using input/output operations corresponding to the functionality of logical components. We propose a logic of normative systems, based on an architecture of counts-as conditionals, institutional constraints, obligations and permissions. For counts-as conditionals and institutional constraints we adapt a popular proposal of Jones and Sergot, and for obligations and permissions we adapt the input/output logic framework of Makinson and van der Torre. We study logical relations among counts-as conditionals, institutional constraints, obligations and permissions. We show that the combined system of counts-as conditionals and institutional constraints reduces to the logic of institutional constraints, which again reduces to an expression in the underlying base logic. One consequence is that the logic of counts-as conditionals – which is more complex than the logic of institutional constraints – can be ignored in the combined system. Another consequence is that the combination of counts-as conditionals, institutional constraints and obligations is straightforward. We also define permissions as exceptions to obligations and characterize their interaction.

On the Multimodal Logic of Elementary Normative Systems

We introduce Multimodal Logics of Normative Systems as a contribution to the development of a general logical framework for reasoning about normative systems over logics for Multi-Agent Systems. Given a multimodal logic L, with standard Kripke semantics, for every modality 2i and normative system η, we expand the language adding a new modality 2ηi with the intended meaning of 2 η i φ being "φ i...

Equivalence of defeasible normative systems

Normative systems have been advocated as an effective tool to regulate interaction in multi-agent systems. The use of deontic operators and the ability to represent defeasible information are known to be two fundamental ingredients to represent and reason about normative systems. In this paper, after introducing a framework that combines standard deontic logic and non-monotonic logic programmin...

Specifying and reasoning about normative systems in deontic logic programming

In this paper we propose the usage of a framework combining standard deontic logic (SDL) and non-monotonic logic programming – deontic logic programs (DLP) – to represent and reason about normative systems.

Normative Reasoning and Consequence

In this chapter we first provide a general introduction to the research area methodology and relevance, then we discuss normative reasoning for multi-agent systems, and finally we discuss current research challenges. We cover the main issues in modern deontic logic, which is much broader than the traditional modal logic framework of deontic logic, with an emphasis to our intended audience. To e...
